Los Angeles Fire Captain Arrested in Heroin Sting
A Los Angeles City Fire Captain, Matthew Phillipsen, was one of several people recently arrested in a sting operation for allegedly attempting to purchase heroin. The sting operation was conducted by Los Angeles Police Department narcotics officers and occurred one block from the fire station.
Phillipsen allegedly purchased seven balloons worth, which is considered a large amount for one person. Given the amount of heroin the captain was allegedly trying to purchase, he may be facing charges of purchasing heroin for sale. Attempting to purchase a controlled substance to sell is a serious felony offense punishable by up to five years in prison.
